While a Power of Attorney and a Last Will and Testament are some very important documents for everyone, these documents are even more important for any newly weds, since it may protect them from any unpredictable situations.

Buying your first home can be a very stressful process, especially since this may be the biggest transaction in your life. Having an experienced Notary by your side it can alleviate your stress and make this experience seamless and painless, by providing you with peace of mind.

If you have not made your Will until this point, having a baby must be the ultimate argument in preparing your Last Will and Testament. Ideally, your Power of Attorney (for any legal and financial decisions) and Representation Agreements (for any medical and personal care decisions) must be done long before you need to use them in case of sickness or mental incapacity. If you have not prepared them yet, you may still be able to do them as long as you are still mentally capable of doing so. The beauty of having an Enduring Power of Attorney is that it's made for life and it stays valid even in case of your mental incapacity. However, if you your mental capacity is lost or diminished before having your POA done, the only way to appoint a Committee of your estate is through a lengthy and expensive Committeship court procedure.

While nobody can fully plan for this part of your journey, having a proper estate plan, including a custom-made Last Will and Testament, may save lots of taxes, probate fees, and strain on your family relationships from discord and disputes.
Besides distribution of your estate, you need to carefully choose your Executor or Trustee. (If you are unsure that your family members would accept to become and act as your Executor, it is a good idea to appoint a professional Executor (a lawyer, notary, or bank/trust company) who may have experience doing that in the past. Otherwise, the Will may still be valid, but the Public Guardian & Trustee would become the Administrator of your estate.
